Novels
Harry hasn't spoken to his real wife in three years, but every night he opens Phoenix — an AI chatbot trained on her voice and humor — to ease the ache of her absence. Rebecca died during an emergency C-section. Their daughter lived eleven days. When a job reconnects Harry with Ellie, a sharp, guarded single mother he once walked away from, he gets a second chance he doesn't deserve. But he is still logging into Phoenix from hotel bathrooms at 2 AM. And when Ellie finds out, she flies home across the Pacific without asking for an explanation.
Project Phoenix explores grief, artificial intimacy, and what it means to choose the living over the dead. For fans of Spike Jonze's Her and Gabrielle Zevin's Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow.
